Hi Majd, today I will be talking to you about the " microwaves that sparked obesity".
In the past obesity wasn't a serious matter but it has rapidly changed in the past 30 years. Lot's of children aged between 2-15 are named obese.
Professer Jane Wardle says obesity rates started to rise soon after 1984- around the time of the rapid spread of microwave ownership.
In 1980, 8% of women and 6% of men were classified obese. By 2004 this had increased to 24% of women and men.
It is often reported to the media the previous generations had a much higher calorie intake but were much more active and had physically demanding jobs.
Microwaves may be to blame for kick-starting the obesity epidemic Professer Jane Wardle suggests.
